Abrasive definition

The concept of abrasive has different meanings at different stages with the development of science and technology. The interpretation of the Encyclopedia of Science and Technology published in 1982 is that abrasives are extremely hard materials used for grinding or grinding other materials. Abrasives can be used alone, or prepared into grinding wheels or coated on paper or cloth. The Mechanical Manufacturing Technology Dictionary prepared by the International Production Engineering Research Institute in 1992 defines abrasive as “abrasive is a natural or artificial material with particle shape and cutting ability”. The concept of abrasive specified in the Standard Abrasives and Abrasives for Mechanical Engineering published by the China Standards Press in May 2006 is that abrasive is a material that plays a riding role in grinding, grinding and polishing; Abrasive is a kind of granular material that is made into specific particle size by artificial method to produce grinding, polishing and grinding tools with cutting material allowance; Coarse abrasive particles are 4~220 grain size abrasive; Particles are ordinary abrasives with a particle size of no more than 240 or finer than 36 μ m/54 μ M super hard abrasive; Abrasive particles that are directly ground or polished in free state.

Abrasive has become an important material used in manufacturing, national defense industry and modern high-tech products. Abrasives can be made into various types or shapes of abrasive tools or grinding wheels. Abrasive is the main material that can be grinded by abrasive tools. It can be directly used to grind or polish the workpiece.
